Gem-Hunt
Gem-Hunt was my entry to the BGDF August 2010 Game Design Showdown. The challenge in that competition was to make a game with exactly 2 winners, but with no teams.
In Gem-Hunt 4 players set out to collect gems. Build roads to be able to move, send your transporter to pick up and bring home the gems. Send your lawyer out to gather income so that you can build more roads or buy more units. Gather cards to be able to end the game and possibly be one of the winners, if you have made the right decisions. Even if you do not end the game you have the chance to win, if you could just know what gems to go for The game reached a shared 2nd place in the competition. I received feedback from some forum members. Each entry was limited to 800 words, so it was not easy to make the rules precise enough. That is why I provided the world with some explanations. |
Status:
The game needs some playtesting in order to find the right balance between points on gems vs points on cards. I imagine it is fun to play, but it is not playtested to verify the fun.
